Fresh, local, in-season, and delicious…

This is a great time of year for locally grown produce.

From Southbourne  we have a fantastic selection of lettuce; flat, density, red lollo and red oakleaf, as well as the ever-popular watercress.

From Chidham we have tasty old potatoes, available loose or in sacks. The same Chidham farmer also grows broad beans.

Warblington farmers  provide us with broad beans, and primo cabbages. Just across the water on the Isle of Wight, we have pencil-thin sprue asparagus, full of flavour and extremely popular.

Our local tomatoes from Chichester are unbeatable if you are after tomatoes that taste like tomatoes should, and are available in several juicy varieties.

A little further afield, Wickham growers deliver to us fresh cauliflower, asparagus, peas, spring hearts, marrows, bunches of beetroot and strawberries (the latter is for munching on while you watch the Wimbledon tennis, of course).

As if all that isn’t enough, we still have a selection of local vegetable plants if you feel the urge to get your hands dirty and grow your own vegetables!

Sussex Day Fete

On Saturday 19th June, the annual Sussex Day fete will be held on the recreation ground on Park Road in Southbourne from 12.30pm – 5:00pm. It’s a great opportunity to bring the local community together, which is good reason to mention the occasion here on the Southbourne Farm Shop website.  Events include a dog show,  jazz performance, classic cars, free face painting, books and plant sales, cream teas and much more. Entry is FREE.
