September 2008

It’s been a wet August, but with a few consecutive dry days in September, we were finally able to begin hay making (above). Chris Bulbeck (and his father before him) have been making hay each summer for fifty years, and in all those years haymaking has never been as late in the year as it has been in 2008, thanks to one of the wettest summers on record. Nevertheless, after several days of hard work, approximately 2000 bales of quality hay have been harvested from 20 acres of land in Southbourne and Hambrook, and are now available to buy in our Farm Shop!

Local produce

Autumn brings a healthy selection of locally produced fruit and veg to the Farm Shop. Our current range includes Wilja and Javelin potatoes, corn on the cob, purple sprouting, brocolli, sprouts (loose and on-the-stick) and a variety of apples.

… which will be updated regularly with details of new products at the shop, including seasonal changes to our fresh local fruit and veg ranges. It’s early days for this new website at the moment, but there will be additional features added over the coming weeks, which will hopefully prove interesting reading! The links at the top of the page provide more information on the shop, such as our range of produce, where to find us, and a brief history of our 26 year old shop.
